Type of Data Collected
Conservation Namibia focusses on providing information to our readers, we do not share any information with advertisers, indeed we have no adverts on the site. Nonetheless certain information is gathered in the process of your visit (including this one), and additional data is recorded if you use our contact form, or subscribe to our mailing list.
Virtually all websites today (including this one), automatically create and store a range of basic information regarding the connections made to the site. This typically comprises: the address (URL) of the webpage(s) you are visiting; your browser and browser version; your operating system; the address (URL) of the previously visited page (referrer URL); the host name and IP address of the device from which it is being accessed; and the date and time. These data are stored in log files on our web server. As a rule, web server log files are stored for two weeks and are then automatically deleted. We do not disclose this information, but we can not rule out that it will be seen in the event of unlawful behaviour. We use the log files to track errors on the site and assist in fixing them.
We also utilise third-party monitoring software provided by Plausible Analytics. This system tracks website traffic such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (e.g. IP Address), browser type, browser version, and the pages of our services that you visit. These data are used to highlight any problems on our site, and to allow us to better understand how the site is used, and ways that we can improve the experience for users. Additional details on the Plausible Analytics system can be found in section 3 (below).
We operate an opt-in mailing list that utilises the service provided by Mailchimp. More information on Mailchimp can be found in section 4 (below).
We will not share your personal information with any other third-party unless we have your permission or if we are required by the law to do so.
